Athlete Code of Conduct 

TEXE Code of Conduct/Behavior Guidelines 2026-27 Swimmer Code

As members of Texas Elite Swimming (TEXE), it is our responsibility to know and uphold the rules, regulations, board and coach directives, and by-laws designed to maximize the experience for all athletes and parents. 


1. Athletes will promote a positive attitude of the TEXE and be supportive of their teammates. 

2. Athletes will respect all coaches on the TEXE staff and abide by all team rules as stated in newsletters and team handbooks 

3. Athletes will display proper respect and sportsmanship toward coaches, officials, administrators, fellow athletes, competitors, and the public. Athletes will also promote good sportsmanship by setting an example and by helping others do likewise.

4. Athletes will respect the Round Rock Aquatic Center as a facility and abide by all rules as governed by the RRISD. We are guests in all facilities we use and as such, team members and/or parents or guardians accept responsibility for any loss or damages to accommodations, facilities, or property. 

5. Verbal/physical aggression will not be tolerated. Athletes will refrain from illegal or inappropriate behavior that detracts from a positive image of the team or is detrimental to our performance objectives. This includes but is not limited to: verbal abuse to a coach, parent or athlete; forcefully shoving or otherwise touching another parent, coach or athlete so as to threaten or cause harm. 

6. Athletes will respect the integrity of officials by assuming decisions are based on honest, objective evaluations of performance. ONLY coaches may approach officials for clarification of rulings. 

7. Alcoholic beverages, smoking, vaping, performance enhancing drugs, and illegal drugs are prohibited at all times. 

8. Any USA Swimming controlled substances are prohibited at all times unless prior arrangements have been made. All medications (including asthma/allergy) must be documented in the TEXE medical info in Team Unify/ Sports Engine. 

9. TEXE TEAM apparel will be worn at all meets as designated by the Head Coach. 

10. Curfews (team travel) established by the Head Coach with an itinerary will be strictly adhered to each day. 

11. Team Travel: Athletes will follow all team rules as established by the Head Coach. Violation of these rules will result in an athlete being sent home at the parents’ expense and there will be no refunds. 

Implementation of the Code of Conduct

Annual signature of the document constitutes unconditional agreement to comply with the Code of Conduct as set forth by the TEXE. Violations of this code of conduct will result in: 


For Athletes: 

- First offense, a verbal and written warning will be given by the coach. Parents will be notified.

- Second offense, including alcohol/drug use and physical aggression, disciplinary action from the coach may include but is not limited to: 

  • Suspension for up to 7 practice days. 
  • Dismissal from the team travel meet and immediate return home at the expense of parent/guardian
  • Disqualification from one or more events, or all events or competitions 
  • Suspension from further team activities for a specified duration 
  • Disqualification from future meets 

- Third offense will result in dismissal from the team by the Head Coach. A meeting will be held involving all parties (athlete, coach, and parents).


All fees, dues paid to that point, will be forfeited. 


**Any action deemed severe enough by the Head Coach regardless of first time occurrence (i.e. physical aggression, death threats) can, and will, be subject to immediate dismissal of the athlete and family from TEXE. Will be reported to USA Swimming Safe Sport. All fees, dues paid to that point, will be forfeited. 


**Any criminal offenses will be reported to the appropriate authorities including the police and school administration.
